ATT006 - Rosie's Job Search - Interviewing Tips and more

Part of my reason for starting this podcast is to share information as we do in this segment. To date, this is one of my faves! Co-host, Rosie, is a recent college grad who is experiencing what many experience after graduating from college when the hunt for a job turns out to be a bit longer than expected.

There is so much that is not taught in high school or college that once young adults get out in the “real world” are left struggling to figure things out. This multi-generational discussion not only addresses Rosie's specific job hunt and why any company would be honored to have her as an employee but also discusses…

  1. how to determine which company and/or position is right for you

  2. is it always right to hold out for the "best" job vs. “settling”

  3. and how to answer that insanely hard question, "why should I/we hire you over the other candidates".!

ATT003 - The 48 Laws of Power: Law #3 Conceal Your Intentions

Law #3 -Conceal Your Intentions

I think this is a verrrry hard one for me. Apparently, there is value to not being an open book. I never really thought about the fact that it is not a trait that people admire. On the contrary, I kind of have prided myself about being one to NOT play games so this is totallly new way of thinking.

I have known people that automatically “hold their cards close to their chest” and honestly it has been annoying to me. I like open books and I don’t like people I can’t read. So this new approach to things is really mindblowing.

These are some tough pills to swallow! This is law #3 of the 48 laws! The book touts this is the bestselling book for those you want power, watch power or want to arm themselves against power.

I love the multi-generational discussion of this law. Listen to the full episode here!

Buy the book! That is the best way to learn everything about the law - to read it!

THE FULL JUDGMENT: Keep people off-balance and in the dark by never revealing the purpose behind your actions. If they have no clue what you are up to, they cannot prepare a defense. Guide them far enough down the wrong paths, envelop them in enough smoke, and by the time they realize your intentions, it will be too late.

ATT001 - The 48 Laws of Power: Law #1 Never Outshine the Master

WOW this book starts off with a bang!!!

Law #1 - Never outshine your master!
Before everyone goes all “Slave Days” this is referencing the people in authority or power over you.
While the first thought is that these laws reference bosses and people in authority over us, these laws can also apply to anyone who has the power in a sales negotiation, or in a personal relationship.

I love the multi-generational discussion of this law. Listen to the full episode here!

THE FULL JUDGMENT: Always make those above you feel comfortable in their sense of superiority. In your desire to please or impress them do not go too far in displaying your talents or you might accomplish the opposite - inspire fear and insecurity. Make them appear more brilliant than they are - and you will attain the heights of power.
