ATT007 - What is Critical Thinking and how can we do it better
My nature is a problem solver, which is why I naturally gravitated towards the profession of “Project Management”. One VP said I was like a bull in a china cabinet but I can get results and push things over the finish line. However, in today’s world the expectation is that every employee have some critical thinking skills and yet that seems to be a skills gap that is harder and harder to find.
This discussion is focused on this gap in today's workforce. With 4 generations reviewing their definition of Critical Thinking it comes to light that this is not just a "millennial" issue, this is something that has been encountered in every generation.
Listen to the full episode and hear some tips on how to be better at critical thinking if this is not your nature.

ATT006 - Rosie's Job Search - Interviewing Tips and more
Part of my reason for starting this podcast is to share information as we do in this segment. To date, this is one of my faves! Co-host, Rosie, is a recent college grad who is experiencing what many experience after graduating from college when the hunt for a job turns out to be a bit longer than expected.
There is so much that is not taught in high school or college that once young adults get out in the “real world” are left struggling to figure things out. This multi-generational discussion not only addresses Rosie's specific job hunt and why any company would be honored to have her as an employee but also discusses…
how to determine which company and/or position is right for you
is it always right to hold out for the "best" job vs. “settling”
and how to answer that insanely hard question, "why should I/we hire you over the other candidates".!

ATT005 - The 48 Laws of Power: Series Conclusion
Is this for me? That is not the question or take away from this series because everyone is impacted. There are so much truths and I love this quote from later in the book:
“Despise The Free Lunch”― Robert Greene, The 48 Laws of Power
There is so much guidance in this book, even for an attitude paradigm shift like the quote above. Beginning, with learning how to control yourself. This discussion reviews the laws that have been covered and if they REALLLLLY can or cannot be applied if this is your nature.
It still stands, as the book says; "Regardless if you like these laws are not, there is governance about how to reach power and work with those in power." The book touts this is the bestselling book for those you want power, watch power or want to arm themselves against power.

ATT004 - The 48 Laws of Power: Law #4 Always Say Less than Necessary
Law #4 Always Say Less than Necessary
Another law that shows apparently, there is value to not being an open book. After last week’s episode, I realize that this is very hard to not ay everything!
“...But the human tongue is a beast that few can master. It strains constantly to break out of its cage, and if it is not tamed, it will tun wild and cause you grief.”― Robert Greene, The 48 Laws of Power
Apparently though, in 1985 RUN DMC had another angle for this with their release of “You Talk Too Much”. Way to take it mainstream boyz!! :) You can listen to the whole rap/song!

THE FULL JUDGMENT: “When you are trying to impress people with words, the more you say, the more common you appear, and the less in control. Even if you are saying something banal, it will seem original if you make it vague, open-ended, and sphinx-like. Powerful people impress and intimidate by saying less. The more you say, the more likely you are to say something foolish.”
ATT003 - The 48 Laws of Power: Law #3 Conceal Your Intentions
Law #3 -Conceal Your Intentions
I think this is a verrrry hard one for me. Apparently, there is value to not being an open book. I never really thought about the fact that it is not a trait that people admire. On the contrary, I kind of have prided myself about being one to NOT play games so this is totallly new way of thinking.
I have known people that automatically “hold their cards close to their chest” and honestly it has been annoying to me. I like open books and I don’t like people I can’t read. So this new approach to things is really mindblowing.
These are some tough pills to swallow! This is law #3 of the 48 laws! The book touts this is the bestselling book for those you want power, watch power or want to arm themselves against power.

THE FULL JUDGMENT: Keep people off-balance and in the dark by never revealing the purpose behind your actions. If they have no clue what you are up to, they cannot prepare a defense. Guide them far enough down the wrong paths, envelop them in enough smoke, and by the time they realize your intentions, it will be too late.
ATT002 - The 48 Laws of Power: Law #2 Never Put Too Much Trust In Friends, Learn How To Use Enemies
Law #2 - Never Put Too Much Trust In Friends, Learn How To Use Enemies
I like the phrase "with friends like that, who needs enemies?". I think we mix up friendships with our assumptions and expectations and that can lead to disaster. Instead, Rober Greene says, look for enemies to become allies because basically you know who they are and what they are about. Another point of discussion is how this law applies when sometimes "enemies" are mindsets, family traits or illnesses.
Regardless if you like these laws are not, there is governance about how to reach power and work with those in power. This is law #2 of the 48 laws! The book touts this is the bestselling book for those you want power, watch power or want to arm themselves against power.

THE FULL JUDGMENT: Be wary of friends-they will betray you more quickly, for they are easily aroused to envy. They also become spoiled and tyrannical. But hire a former enemy and he will be more loyal than a friend because he has more to prove. In fact, you have more to fear from friends than from enemies. If you have no enemies, find a way to make them.
