MM005 - What did Valentine's Day look like at your house?

Valentine's Day - "the day of love". looks different in each household.

In the past, I was never a HUGE fan of Valentine’s Day because I felt I would rather have little shows of affection and love throughout the year vs. a few “big” times. However, once I got married, I married a man that that is not his style for showing love or his “love language”. So, I had to meet in the middle and learn to be okay with his style of love language and be okay with the “big” dates/days and he had to step up his game on these dates/days and learn their importance to me.

Because our 2019 Valentines was a disaster, Scott told me we were doing this Love Like You Mean It Family LIfe Cruise this year for Valentines and it was amazing! Not only did we get to spend this Valentine's Day learning more about how to have a successful marriage but got to relax, and get refreshed in our souls, in God and with each other. Here is the link for next year’s cruise if you would like to look into it!

But also it came up about celebrating Valentine's Day with kids, so I was curious if this is something other people do. I also wanted to acknowledge single parents since this can be one of those difficult times that amplify that you are single parent.

Lastly, I want to share a friendly reminder -  Moms, Make sure to remember to take a moment for some self-care!!!

MM-002 - 5 Love Languages for Kids - Ep 1 of 2

I didn’t realize the reason why so many relationships go awry and I don’t just refer to “romantic” relationships is that what makes us feel loved and cared for varies soooo drastically from person to person.

My husband, Scott, and I took the quiz to determine our love language before and after we got married and the results changed based on how are needs changed once we got married. I love the 5 love languages because not only do the books and tools help you understand yourself but also the other side of the relationship.

Because it shows us our differences so wonderfully, this got me thinking of how everyone feels loved differently and how that varies from person to person. I was excited to find out that authors Gary Chapman and Ross Campbell wrote “The 5 Languages of Love for Children”! This made me stop and think about how I show my love to my daughter.

There are 5 languages and this episode covers the 1st 3: PHYSICAL TOUCH, WORDS OF AFFIRMATION and QUALITY TIME

How do you show your children love in these 3 areas? Which ones come naturally to you? Which ones do you have to work at? Keep the conversation going and join us at:

MM001 - Self Care in 2020

Moms are soooo bussssy! With all of the juggling, many of us find ourselves exhausted and not our best self for our family.  This year I am challenging myself to take more time to breathe and "recharge my batteries". This takes time and effort to shut the internal dialogue off of all that needs to get done but I am working to be intentional and minimize my stress. Listen to the full episode here!
